This web site ("Site") is owned by 1791 Diamonds Ltd (referred to on this Site as "we", "our" or "us"). Your use of this Site is governed by these terms of use. By accessing and browsing this Site you agree to be bound by these terms of use.

If you wish to purchase any of our goods or use any of our services on this Site, you will be required to agree to additional terms and conditions of sale for those particular goods or services.

General Terms and Conditions

Our Promise

Our products are uniquely designed by us and are exquisitely crafted from very high quality materials.

We endeavour to provide you with absolutely excellent customer service. If there is anything you would like to discuss with us then please get in touch via the contact us page.

We have specifically checked that our diamond suppliers adhere to the Kimberley Process so as to avoid sourcing conflict diamonds.

Our Polite Request

Please use this web site in a manner that will make other people happy and is entirely within the law. Please don't submit any information that would insult or upset other users or our staff.

Delivery

Delivery times are calculated from the time that payment is received for an order. From that point, you can expect delivery to be 15-20 working days. If you have chosen the 'Valuation for Insurance' option, then this will add 2-4 days to the expected delivery time.

Certificates and Reports

All diamonds over 0.3 carats supplied by this site have independent diamond certificates. We use Advanced Gem Laboratory (AGL) Limited (NZ), GemLab (NZ),the Gemological Insititute of America (GIA), The Diamond High Council of Belgium (HRD), or the International Gemological Institute (IGI).

Note, some distributors and retailers issue their own certificates We use independent laboratories to give you the confidence that the diamonds are the quality we stated. We feel this is particularly important for an internet purchase.

18kt White Gold Content Declaration

At 1791 Diamonds quality is very important and we only use the best materials suited to making diamond engagement rings that look beautiful and wear well.

Our 18kt Gold is made with at least 75% pure gold with other metals added to make it stronger and give it a lovely white look. To enhance this shiny white look and to add strength to the surface of your ring, we plate our 18kt white gold rings with a layer of rhodium, a metal which is a member of the platinum family. This also aids against the tarnish and discolouration of your ring.

The 18kt white gold that we use at 1791 Diamonds is a high quality precious metal. Our 18kt white gold is alloyed with palladium so it still retains its "whiteness" after the rhodium plating has worn away and therefore delays the need for re-plating your engagement ring. Some cheaper 18kt white gold rings are alloyed with metals such as nickel. This can leave a yellow tinge to the base metal after the rhodium plating has worn away and therefore re-plating has to be done more frequently.

If our customers prefer, we also have the option of ordering our rings in Platinum; it is 95% pure and hypoallergenic.

Goods and Services Tax

Returns Policy

If you are not entirely satisfied with one of our products you may return it to us within the first 14 days from when the ring is delivered. Products must be in an "as new" condition. Please call to arrange return or get in touch via the contact us page. We will issue you with a returns number and arrange an insured courier.

Do not return rings in any other way because they probably won't be insured.

This returns policy is strictly limited to one engagement ring and two wedding bands per customer.

Your statutory rights are not affected by this returns policy. If there is a fault in the materials or manufacture we will replace a ring free of charge.

Ring Size

To have a free ring sizer sent to you, please complete the Ring-Sizer request form.

If a ring we send to you needs re-sizing, then we understand that you will probably not want to let go of your beautiful new ring once you have it. So, contact us and we will help you find a trusted jeweller local to you so you can resize your ring at your convenience and as quickly as possible.

Intellectual Property

All intellectual property on this Site, including without limit, the text, graphics and copyright works is owned by us (or our relevant content supplier). We are the exclusive owner of all rights in the compilation, design and layout of this Site.

Our ring designs are unique and copyright in them belongs to us. You may not reproduce these designs, nor have a jeweller reproduce these designs for you.

Right to Use Site and Content

You may access, view, reproduce and print the content on this Site provided you only use that content for informational, non-commercial purposes and any reproduction includes a prominent acknowledgement of our rights in the relevant content.

All our rings are made on demand for you. As a result, the pictures are indicative and not of the actual ring. You can, however, be sure that we endeavour to make each ring to a very high level of quality and as near to the original master as possible.

Photos

This Site contains various photos, 3D models and illustrations of our products. These are often not to scale and may appear both larger and smaller than the actual size. We have done this so you can see the detailed design. In addition we often have to alter or enhance pictures. The objective of this enhancement is to remove reflections of the camera, reflections of the photo booth, and reflections of photographic lighting, as well as dust and dirt marks from the camera lens and defects or dirt on the camera digital sensor.

Diamond Carat Weight and Millimetre size

To help you envisage the approximate dimensions of a diamond we sometimes show an approximate millimetre size alongside the official carat weight of a diamond. Please note this is a very approximate measure and it can be quite inaccurate because it is based on averages and not the actual diamond. However, the carat weight is exact and based on the actual diamond. You should only rely on the carat weight and take millimetre size as a very ballpark estimate.
